Financial Literacy

The KLS Legacy Foundation recognizes the importance of financial literacy for the longstanding success of the Simmonds Scholars and wider communities of color. For this reason, the KLS Legacy Foundation has partnered with the USC Emeriti Center and the Financial Awareness Foundation to provide financial resources to increase financial awareness and financial literacy.

About the USC Emeriti Center

Since its founding in 1978, the USC Emeriti Center has served the university’s retirees and pre-retirees in living healthy and purposeful lives by providing essential information, resources, services, advocacy, privileges, and support. Part of the Office of the Provost, the Emeriti Center offers most of its services and programs free of charge and open to campus and community. We are an inclusive community celebrating our diverse population and offer many intergenerational learning programs throughout the year.

About the Financial Awareness Foundation

The Financial Awareness Foundation – TFAF is a 501(c)(3) USA based nonprofit organization with a mission to significantly improve financial awareness and financial literacy. Valentino Sabuco is the Executive Director. We serve as a non-political ‘financial awareness advocate’ for We The People – the general public, the financial service and nonprofit professionals, financial product providers and their organizations, educational institutions, municipalities, tech companies, employers and the news media.

TFAF has two main focal points:

♦  Promoting The Improving Financial Awareness & Financial Literacy Movement around its concentrated personal finance content media blitz every six months through the strategic campaign venues of Financial Literacy Month (April) and Estate & Gift Planning Awareness Month (October). The plan is to touch EVERYONE at least twice a year through these strategic venues, with educational and motivating reminders to get and keep their financial house in order with a current financial, estate, and gift plans.

♦  Delivers and develops exceptional educational content and programs

TFAF supports KLS Legacy interests in providing critical support to low-income Black/African-American students in becoming Simmonds Scholars through their trifecta program of Scholarship, Internship, and Mentorship.
